A split up can get both ugly and expensive. Just ask the real estate tycoon Harry Macklowe and his ex-wife, Linda who are two of the greatest private art collectors in the US. They have fought in court over the assets and their incredible art collection is now about to be auctioned at Sotheby’s on November 15 this year and on May 22 next year. The Macklowe art collection features works such as Nine Marilyns and Sixteen Jackies by Andy Warhol, No. 7 by Mark Rothko, Le Nez by Alberto Giacometti and Seestuck by Gerhard Richter. The art collection, which consists of 65 works, also includes pieces from Pablo Picasso and Willem de Kooning. As you have probably guessed, this auction is unique and as Macklowe’s art collection is worth around $600 million it could break the record as the most expensive art collection ever sold!
